Summer Surprises

With all of my friends living in different cities across Texas, it's hard to get everyone together. However, since my birthday was earlier this month, my family took this opportunity to organize a late, birthday surprise with a few of my closest friends. All Friday afternoon my mom kept me busy and out of the house so my friends and sisters could get everything ready at home. After my mom stalled me as long as possible, I walked into my house to see friends, family and decorations. Another great surprise was when a long-time friend walked into my house Saturday morning. We spent the weekend catching up, eating, drinking, laughing and watching horrible, (yet really entertaining) reality tv. Although not all of my friends could make it, we all had a blast together, just like old times. It got me thinking about blessings, and how lucky we are to have found each other and how lucky I am to have such great people in my life. I have always said, I would rather have a few close friends than a bunch of fair-weather friends. I wouldn't be the same if I didn't have you to laugh with, cry with, grow with and live life with; you know who you are.

"A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."- Proverbs 18:24

"When there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety." -Proverbs 11:14

Who are you thankful for?
