Ruidoso, NM

Last weekend my sweet, boyfriend planned a birthday get away to Ruidoso, New Mexico. We rented a cozy cabin right in the center of town near shopping, restaurants and most importantly, the Ruidoso Downs race track. On Friday, our first night, we ate dinner at a great, little restaurant called Grill Caliente then headed to the Inn of the Mountain Gods to test our luck with Russian Roulette. Saturday morning started with iced coffee and a toasted bagel with homemade, blueberry cream cheese at Sacred Grounds; a cozy, coffee shop. The horse races soon followed in the Turf Club, and then a causal dinner with drinks at Grace O'Malley's Irish Pub. On our way out of town Sunday morning we ate breakfast at a Ruidoso staple; The Log Cabin. I'm not even ashamed to say that I had the best biscuits and gravy, ever. This is a must, if you are ever in the area. We also made sure to stop in at some antique stores and some local furniture stores before making the drive home. I got a glass, beverage dispenser and sugar jar for my new kitchen from 2nd Hand Heaven. However, my favorite piece that I bought, is a teal bench that I could not wait to set on my back porch. One of the most fun things about moving into a new home is finding the furniture and decor that speaks to you. I've had so much fun discovering my own, personal style. Going along the lines of style, I have tried to purchase clothing items with more color this summer. Color is something my wardrobe needs more of, and these denim shorts and flowy top that I wore to the horse races, have to be two of my favorite purchases this summer. With that being said, don't be afraid to add color to your life. Whether it's starting out this "color addition" with something small, like a bright top, or a bolder statement like the teal bench I purchased, you will learn to love (and not be afraid) of color! Hope everyone has a great week!

Comfy. Colorful. Convenient.
