The Long Run

Sometimes, old is better than new. I definitely think this is the case for music and in some instances, architecture and scenery. Living in West Texas, there is not much to see on our long drives to civilization. However, I have grown to appreciate the small things along the way. Maybe I'm crazy, but I see an old, abandoned boat in a field as scenic rather than junk. I truly see the old, outdated and abandoned objects as art. With that being said, I feel that some people see musicians such as Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones & the Eagles as old and outdated, and many have abandoned this classic style of music. Through the influence of family and friends I have been fortunate enough to broaden my knowledge of music and have even been able to see some of my favorites, like the Eagles, in concert twice. At the end of the concert, Timothy B. Schmit leaned off the stage and gave me one of his guitar picks. Needless to say, I was on cloud nine and bragged about it for weeks. So, on a recent trip to Lubbock, Texas I stopped by Ralph's Records and purchased records of some of my favorite artists. My next step; buy a record player. Some of you may now think that I am outdated and old fashioned, but I think the best way to enjoy these great artists is to enjoy them how they were meant to be enjoyed; the old fashioned way.

Love,
